Chamber music meets Ballet

In 2016 I first started working with acclaimed  choreographer John Neumeier’s company - Das Bundesjugendballet. I started my year-long collaboration with the Hamburg based group as being part of the ensemble of “Ein kleiner Prinz” - Eine collageartige Musik- und Tanztheaterinszenierung, bei der der17-jährige Willicher Inklusionssportler Julius Winkelsträter im Mittelpunkt steht.Working with the ensemble exposed me to the Theater world. I played music for full length shows by heart, which enabled me to move on stage while playing as well as interacting with the dancers and actors. I spoke texts, danced small choreographies and gained knowledge in staging, lights, costumes and dramaturgy. The unique interdisciplinary approach led by artistic director Kevin Haigen, involved me in artistic decisions of the production for example composition and improvisation of musical transitions and taught me to look at the “big picture”- the context of the whole show and the message it intends to deliver to the viewer. Shows i was part of with the company include “Songbook”(2017), “Bundesjugendballet trifft Shakespeare” (2019), “DisTanz”(2020), “John’s-Bjb-Bach” and “Die Unsichtbaren”(2022). We were touring nationally and internationally in Festivals such as Lucerne Festival, Rheingau Musik Festival Young Euro Classics, PODIUM Festival and theatres such as Konzerthaus Berlin, Festspielhaus Baden Baden,  Prinzregententheater Munich and the Hamburger Ernst Deutsch Theater.
